Welcome to Benzonia Rustic Resort
It was the 1950’s. The Betsie River was a renowned trout stream and it was also the Home of the Historic Homestead Dam. Because the backwaters of the dam provided excellent fishing the need for boat rentals and a bait shop became evident. With that also a need for lodging and thus the birth of our resort.
Through the years many upgrades and changes have occurred. Much of the dam has been removed which has also removed the backwaters. But the Bestie River is still a renowned trout stream and also now is one of the most famous Salmon streams available for fishing the fall Salmon run.
In 2022 the Rustic Resort was purchased by the Kelly Family and renamed it the Benzonia Rustic Resort. The Kelly family are very familiar with the true North experience. They are locals of Northern Michigan with their roots going back to the early 1930’s. Lance Kelly, who lives on the property, will handle your reservations and welcome you to our family resort. While you are relaxing and refreshing with family and friends he will help direct you to all the great northern Michigan experiences available.
We are 30 minutes from Traverse City, 20 minutes from Interlochen Arts Academy, 15 minutes from Crystal Mountain, and 10 minutes from Lake Michigan Beaches and Crystal Lake.

Cancel up to 30 days are 100% refundable. Cancellation within 29 days of reservation will be refunded a voucher for equal value to be used within 365 days of issue.
